Welcome Back

 Hello 4-H Families,

It is that time to start the new 4-H year!

Our first community club meeting will be September 16, 2022 from 6:30pm-8:00pm at the AJ Multi Gen Center. This meeting is for all returning and new members so that we can meet each other and determine which projects you will be in. You will also meet the project leader (who will have future project meetings with you).

This year our horse project leader will be Katherine (Ava's mom), which you all know already. Huge shout out to her for stepping up and finalizing becoming certified so that she can help us lead this project.

This year Amy (Becca and Paden's mom) offered to lead the lamb and goat project. A huge shout out to her for helping lead this project too!!

Hailey and I will be doing the swine project together! Hailey may throw in some arts n crafts items at a community club meeting.

We will have a few new families this year and I am excited to welcome them. If you are new, the community club meetings are when we all come together to discuss items as a club, plan community service, business items, and any other issues that we need to deal with as a club. Those meetings are once a month on a Friday from 6:30pm-8:00pm. Then there are project meetings, those will vary depending upon the need by your project leader.

If at anytime anyone has questions you can always reach me by cell at 480-612-5347.

See you all soon!!

Record Books

Please remember that record books are due by August 5th by 5pm in Zingbooks.

Arizona 4-H Member Record Evaluation Guidance

Leadership (25%) Leadership means taking the lead in giving direction, planning and organizing. Leaders are resourceful, good problem solvers, promoters, idea-contributors and persons who exemplify positive attitudes. Leadership is evidenced by contributions you have made to the local club, county, state, regional or national level. Evidence of leadership can often be demonstrated through holding elected offices or leadership positions. Leadership can also be demonstrated by having other individuals take part while you serve as a mentor or tutor.

Program or Project Accomplishments (25%) Excellence in project work should be evident in multiple areas of your Arizona 4-H Member’s Record and Arizona 4-H Project Record. 4-H members are working towards mastering skills in project work. Evidence of 4-H project mastery is demonstrated by highlighting project goals and accomplishments, gained knowledge, developed skills, acquired insights, and presentation of sophistication in the project and activities. Please show depth and breadth of participation, as well as development of skills you will use outside of 4-H project work.

Communications (10%) Communication is the ability to effectively share your ideas and knowledge in visual, written, and spoken ways. Evidence of effectively using communication skills can be promoting 4-H, including public speaking, demonstrations, or podcasts. Evidence of ways you have used a variety of skills to communicate with others about 4-H and what the program can do for others illustrates your understanding of effective communication.

Citizenship & Community Service (20%) Citizenship is demonstrated through an understanding of the importance of civic involvement as evidenced by a high regard for freedom, justice, equity, and democratic principles. Citizenship is exemplified by your ability to move beyond your individual self- interests and to be committed to the well-being of some larger group. Community service is providing voluntary service to members of the community—such as repairing park benches, cleaning up a roadside, working at a food bank. Service is done without compensation and with a positive, courteous, and enthusiastic spirit.

4-H Story (15%) Follow the instructions in the Arizona 4-H Member’s Record with respect to writing your 4-H story. Your story should be an overview of your experiences in 4-H. Your story should be compelling and show introspection and reflection on what your 4-H experiences have meant to you and how they have impacted your life. Photos are worth a thousand words. The photos you share in your Arizona 4-H Member Record should show you in action. Use your photos to show what and how you have learned through your 4-H experience.

Overall (5%) Neatness and attention to detail in preparation demonstrate how you care about your 4-H experience. Proofread your document for grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors before submitted.

Calling all current certified leaders and those who want to become certified

Annual Leader Meeting (September 10, 2022 from 10AM to 2PM), which we hold each fall.

In the past we invited community club leaders to attend, but this year we decided to invite ALL certified volunteers to attend. Our hope is that this event will help support your efforts as club leader by ensuring leaders in your club are more knowledgeable about policy, what’s new, and ways to help promote 4-H.

This meeting will be located at the 4-H office in Casa Grande. Mark your calendars!

I hope to see all of my current 4-H leaders there!

If you are interested in becoming a certified leader please plan on attending the New Leader Orientation training scheduled for August 20th from 9AM to Noon. Our club can use your help with the following projects: horse, lamb, holstein calf, community service, cloverbuds, and any other projects that the kids want to add.

The only certified leaders that we currently have are myself, Amy D, and Joalyce. I am desperate for help. I cannot run the club alone. It takes a village of volunteers to make this happen for our kids. Please let me know if you are interested in helping this year.

Thank you,

Michelle

Agenda for Friday's club meeting

We have a club meeting this Friday at 6:45pm at the AJ multi gen center. I hope to see everyone there. We still have several families that we have not met. We would love to see everyone involved with the club. I cannot stress enough that we only get so much out of what we put in. I work hard behind the scenes making plans for the club/projects. It's important that you all are communicating with your kids about what we are doing at meetings etc. It takes an effort on us all to make this club successful!!!

The agenda has all future dates of upcoming events that I have type up for you.

If you miss this meeting you will need to make arrangements to come to my house to pick up your badges for working LDD Rodeo. Please reach out.

See you Friday.

February 11th Club Meeting

Our club meeting for the entire club will be Feb 11th 6:30pm at the AJ Multi Gen center.

At our last horse project meeting we had a few members present a horse demonstration on a topic they selected about horses. We have a few that will need to present at our Feb 11th meeting so I have decided to open it up to the remaining club members. So those that are in lamb, swine, holstein calf or if you maybe have an interest in a future project please plan a demonstration speech to share at the February meeting.

(Remember this is a great thing to list in your record book) Especially when it comes time to apply for

4-H scholarships. The more active you are within your club the better chance you have to be successful obtaining scholarships.

Below is a list to some great topics for a demonstration speech.

Keep in mind this event is what gives back to our club so that we have funds for T-shirts, project equipment.

I need everyone to please look at the their calendars and sign up where you can help.
