Lost Dutchman Days Rodeo- Volunteer Signs up are OPEN!!

 Hello,

It is that time of year to start signing up to volunteer at the Lost Dutchman Days Rodeo.

As you know, we have been invited to help sell the rodeo tickets at the front entrance gate, and main grandstand gate. The Lost Dutchman Rodeo Committee puts this rodeo on each year and gives back to local youth groups like ourselves. We are thankful for their generosity and partnership over MANY years!

What does this mean? This means our club needs help from each and everyone of you to volunteer throughout the weekend. We will need help from parents, and youth members. We will even take help from any other of your family members. It's a VERY BUSY rodeo and cannot be accomplished without everyone's help. Not only is Saturday usually the busiest day but keep in mind I have to take Friday off from work to work this event for our club. We need your help!

Sign up today! Remember this will also help towards service hours for record books.

New this year they will be selling a limited amount of presale tickets for each specific day at AJ Chamber and Crazy Horse Saddle Shop. No online sales this year. That means pre sale tickets will be labeled for use only a specific day! This will also allow us to know how many we can sell in person and hopefully eliminate for folks being upset if we sell out. We are also hoping that they (LDD) will allow me access to their FB page to update the public when we are almost sold out, and sold out each day. 😁😁

Here is the link to sign up. I ask that you specify how many in your family are coming to help me with numbers and making sure we have enough help each day.

 Sign up here

If you have any questions about this event feel free to message me or text me.

AZ State Ambassador Program

State Ambassador Program

The State 4-H Ambassador program provides a select group of 4-H teen leaders with the opportunity to advocate for 4-H youth, represent Arizona 4-H, and develop as generational leaders. The team will consist of seven elected 4-H state ambassadors. Every ambassador, regardless of their specific position, needs to be able to articulate what 4-H is, how it came about, and where it aspires to take the next generation of leaders in Arizona.

Reach out to Caroline Werkhoven for questions about how to be an Ambassador.

Arizona 4-H Summit

About Summit

At Arizona 4-H Summit, our goal is to help provide teens with an environment in which they can explore what they are passionate about and learn how to take the next steps toward creating a future around that passion. Summit is an experience for Arizona 4-H teens to build problem-solving skills, practice putting innovative ideas into action, and an opportunity to explore future careers. It offers a creative space for teen leaders ages 14-18 to ignite and grow their unique spark.

Arizona 4-H Summit is supported by Arizona Farm Bureau, Bayer Crop Science, and other generous donors to the Arizona 4-H Youth Foundation.

One Health and Water

At Summit, the One Health theme creates opportunities for youth with diverse interests across the four pillars of 4-H: Agriculture, Citizenship, Healthy Living, and STEM. This year we will look at how water is related to One Health and the four pillars of 4-H. Every Arizona 4-H'er has a valuable perspective to share, so we hope you join us at Summit!

The Wildcat Experience

For many 4-H youth, Summit is an introduction to college life at the University of Arizona. Participants live in residence halls, collaborate in classrooms, and visit campus landmarks. Arizona 4-H partners with the Office of Admissions to help youth envision their path to joining the Wildcat family. Through collaboration with the Office of Student Engagement & Career Development, Summit participants also learn about careers in agriculture and beyond.

Registration Info

Scholarships may be available from your county to help pay for Summit! Submit your application for Tractor Supply Paper Clover funds to your county office for approval. Many county Leaders' Councils also offer scholarships for events like Summit, so ask the staff at your county office for more information.

When you sign up for Summit, your registration is held to allow 4-H staff to process any scholarships you might be receiving. Once we receive this information, your registration will be approved and you will receive an email with information about paying whatever fee remains. If you notice your registration has been approved, but you haven't received an email, you can also return to the Events tab in your ZSuite account to complete payment.

Record Books - Don't delay

It's about that time to sit down and think about finishing up those record books. I will let you know the deadline as soon as I receive it.

If you have not started yet, now is the time. Keep in mind it's required for our horse members to qualify for the AZ State Horse Show.

Submitting a record book each year is a valuable tool for our youth to sit and reflect of how they did in their project, did they meet their goals? Did they learn? What could be better?

Keep in mind record books need to be submitted in ZingBooks. https://4h.zsuite.org/

You will work on the member record and the project record. The member record is the one we update annually of all of our years in 4-H. The project record is about the specific project(s) you did this year. (ie: you were in lamb and horse) You will have 2 project records and one member record book to submit.

Here are some details on how the record books are evaluated. Do not forget your 4-H story and photo's!

Arizona 4-H Member Record Evaluation Guidance

Leadership (25%) Leadership means taking the lead in giving direction, planning and organizing. Leaders are resourceful, good problem solvers, promoters, idea-contributors and persons who exemplify positive attitudes. Leadership is evidenced by contributions you have made to the local club, county, state, regional or national level. Evidence of leadership can often be demonstrated through holding elected offices or leadership positions. Leadership can also be demonstrated by having other individuals take part while you serve as a mentor or tutor.

Program or Project Accomplishments (25%) Excellence in project work should be evident in multiple areas of your Arizona 4-H Member’s Record and Arizona 4-H Project Record. 4-H members are working towards mastering skills in project work. Evidence of 4-H project mastery is demonstrated by highlighting project goals and accomplishments, gained knowledge, developed skills, acquired insights, and presentation of sophistication in the project and activities. Please show depth and breadth of participation, as well as development of skills you will use outside of 4-H project work.

Communications (10%) Communication is the ability to effectively share your ideas and knowledge in visual, written, and spoken ways. Evidence of effectively using communication skills can be promoting 4-H, including public speaking, demonstrations, or podcasts. Evidence of ways you have used a variety of skills to communicate with others about 4-H and what the program can do for others illustrates your understanding of effective communication.

Citizenship & Community Service (20%) Citizenship is demonstrated through an understanding of the importance of civic involvement as evidenced by a high regard for freedom, justice, equity, and democratic principles. Citizenship is exemplified by your ability to move beyond your individual self- interests and to be committed to the well-being of some larger group. Community service is providing voluntary service to members of the community—such as repairing park benches, cleaning up a roadside, working at a food bank. Service is done without compensation and with a positive, courteous, and enthusiastic spirit.

4-H Story (15%) Follow the instructions in the Arizona 4-H Member’s Record with respect to writing your 4-H story. Your story should be an overview of your experiences in 4-H. Your story should be compelling and show introspection and reflection on what your 4-H experiences have meant to you and how they have impacted your life. Photos are worth a thousand words. The photos you share in your Arizona 4-H Member Record should show you in action. Use your photos to show what and how you have learned through your 4-H experience.

Overall (5%) Neatness and attention to detail in preparation demonstrate how you care about your 4-H experience. Proofread your document for grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors before submitted.

Last Community Club Meeting - April 21st

 Hello 4-H Families,

April 21st will be our last community club meeting

............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Happy April Fool's Day!!   Did you think I wasn't coming back??

This will just be the last meeting for the current 4-H year we are in. Hope you all can attend. This will be the meeting where we need to plan our budget for the new season and a year end celebration.

Come with ideas! If you have ideas bring prices too! We have 13 families and approximately 50 people. If we have wants and needs for any project needs bring your ideas.

I am thinking that we try to plan the year end celebration to be the first weekend in June. If over the summer we want to try and get together for a fun swim at the AJ pool we could try and coordinate that too.

Hailey and I are very excited for the new 4-H year to begin. ZingBooks will have new enrollment open usually the beginning of August.

Keep an eye for future details!

Janauary Meeting Recap

 Hello 4-H Families,

Our January meeting minutes have been posted on our blog. We missed seeing several of you at the January meeting.

Here is a recap:

We used the January meeting to also begin working on deco for the fair booth. The booth will be set up during fair week to showcase our club in the county.

The theme is 4-H Grows Here, and We've got a good thing growing here!

We painted large cutout flowers to represent one for each member. If you weren't at the meeting we still painted one for you. We will need a headshot photo of each member so that we can print a 4x4 to attach to the large flower. If you can please send those to Michelle no later than February 1st. This is for EVERY club member. We want you to be a part of the fair booth. The club is paying for the printing of the photos.

We are in need of deco for the booth: Garden gloves, tools, etc... if you have any to donate please bring it to the February 17th meeting. The club did vote and did set aside up to $200 to assist with printing photos, and purchasing supplies if we do not have anyone that has items to let us borrow.

Fair is a fun time for the kids to showcase their talents in the exhibit hall!!

The kids voted on photography entries. The club will pay for printing with  5x7 or 8x10 of photography entries to enter. The fair book should be released soon so that you can see the categories that you can capture! You as the parent, will be responsible for signing up in ShoWorks the entry and getting it turned in at fair (according to the deadlines)

Lost Dutchman Days Rodeo- The club voted on volunteer tshirts to be worn by those who are volunteering during the rodeo weekend. Shirt orders will be placed Monday at noon. If you have not got your order sizes to Michelle, please do so by then.

February Meeting is  - 2/17/2023

We will be working on more items for the fair booth and will give a run down on how the rodeo weekend will work.

Thank you,

Michelle
